The Gavalas Kolanko
Foundation awards scholarships to students with physical impairments. Trident
Technical College recently joined as a partner with the Gavalas Kolanko
Foundation to offer scholarships to Trident Technical College students with
physical disabilities. TTC joins the College of Charleston, Charleston Southern
University, The Citadel, and the Art Institute of Charleston in this endeavor.
The scholarship ranges from $1,000 - $2500 and can be renewed up to a total of
four years.
The criteria for the Gavalas
Kolanko Foundation Scholarship:

Student must have a physical disability (sight,
hearing, movement)
·
2.5 GPA (at TTC if enrolled, or if prospective
student, high school GPA)
·
Must be involved in community service
·
Must be willing to serve as a representative of
the Gavalas Kolanko Foundation
·
Must be willing to participate in GKF functions
·
The deadline for submission of the TTC
application is July 25, 2018
The student must submit the
TTC GKF Scholarship application and the following:
a.
Personal letter outlining their educational and
vocational goals
b.
Complete, official transcript(s) of their
academic record (2.5 minimum GPA)
c.
List of extracurricular activities and
organizations
d.
Two letters of recommendation, one must be from
a former instructor
e.
Picture of yourself
** Renewals –
Previous TTC Recipients who wish to renew their scholarship must submit: (a)
current academic transcript (2.5 GPA minimum); and (b) an updated list of
extra-curricular/community service activities to Jim Orgel, Lead Counselor, SSD
Office at TTC (see contact information below).
